German carrier raises Subcontinent rates and Ukrainian demurrage

Hapag-Lloyd has announced price increases for demurrage on exports from Ukrainian ports, which can be seen here, and a general rate increase (GRI) on cargo out of Indian ports.

The GRI will be implemented on 28 September for all cargo from India (excluding North India* and West India Origins **) to Arabian Gulf destinations***: The increases will be as follows:

  • US$50 per 20′ Standard Container
  • US$100 per 40′ Standard Container
  • US$100 per 40′ High Cube Container

Effective from the same date, cargo originating from Western Indian origins ** to Arabian Gulf destinations will see a GRI of:

  • US$30 per 20′ Standard Container
  • US$50 per 40′ Standard Container
  • US$50 per 40′ High Cube Container

And lastly effective from 1 October for all cargo originating from North India origins ** to Arabian Gulf destinations the GRI will be:

  • US$100 per 40′ High Cube Container

*North India origins are in the Indian states of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan & Punjab.
**West India origins are in the Indian state of Gujrat.
***Arabian Gulf destinations are United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq and Saudi Arabia (via Dammam/Jubail).
