Yang Ming empowers intra-Asia network
In further evidence of the growing intra-Asia trades, Taiwan-based shipping company Yang Ming has announced an expansion of its intra-Asia service network by extending its Japan-Taiwan-South China Express (JTS) service to Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines.
Yang Ming will deploy four container vessels of 2,800TEU capacity each on a 28-day round trip schedule. The upgraded JTS rotation will begin on 21 October, 2020, from the Japanese port of Nagoya.
The revised port rotation will be: Nagoya – Tokyo – Chiba – Yokohama – Keelung – Kaohsiung – Hong Kong – Shekou – Port Kelang – Singapore – Manila South Port – Kaohsiung – Hong Kong – Shekou – Xiamen – Nagoya
With the progress in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) negotiations, the steady economic growth in the Southeast Asia region is highly anticipated, according to the company.
Yang Ming aims to optimise its competitiveness between Japan, Taiwan, South China and Southeast Asia with the improvement of the JTS service.
Furthermore, the linkage of Yang Ming’s main port, Kaohsiung, and transit hubs of Southeast Asia, Port Kelang and Singapore, will complement current offerings in Southeast Asia and provide an easy connection with the carrier’s global service network.
